Many of the databases, (such as EBSCOhost) have a checkbox on the search page that allows you to limit your search results to only "scholarly" articles--also known as peer reviewed. Some databases like Google Scholar have all scholarly articles.
You can apply the limiter before or after you do your initial searching in the search boxes. You can also limit by date range, etc.
